The Orthex adventure began in 2002 when Eric Duhamel worked as a part-time sales advisor, during University, in an adjustable bed store. A strong demand for health and wellbeing solutions and a stagnant industry inspired the young entrepreneur to launch this ambitious project. Duhamel started out to develop the expertise he would need by surrounding himself with top health consultants, designers and suppliers. Six years of research, studies and tests led to the creation of Orthex’s first product, the Symbia Posture Cushion, a bed wedge. Today, the company that started in Duhamel’s apartment has become a North American leader in orthopedic cushions, pillows and mattresses as well as cutting edge adjustable beds for home care and mobility.
